WHAT IS SEND 2 SUMMIT?

Sent 2 Summit is an adventure duathlon involving mountain biking and trail running.

There are three ‘legs’:

  1. Prologue run - a 5km run off the start line, used to warm the legs up but mainly to spread the field out before hopping on the…

  2. Mountain Bike - the ‘‘Send’. Or the ‘Plummet’. A 22km mountain bike ride that involves a little XC (cross country endurance) style riding involving a short dirt road loop around up towards the Buller Summit back via ‘Village Trail’ before joining the singletrack goodness of Gang Gangs, Picnic Trail and Wooly Butt (where you will get your flow on). There’s an aid station at Howqua Gap Hut, a short (3km) dirt road section (Circuit Rd), and then boom… down you go. The Drop. First down River Spur Trail and then on to the famous Delatite, where you need to hang on for dear life as you plummet towards Mirimbah Picnic Ground

  3. Mountain Run - a 10km trail run from Mirimbah Picnic Ground, up Klingsporn Trail before diverting to an epic ridge run up the northern flank of Mt Buller all the way to the cherished summit. Then…another short plummet (or amble - the legs will be a little tired) down to the finishline at Mount Buller Village. Bar will be open.

DO I HAVE TO DO BOTH LEGS?

I’M A SOLO LEGEND: HOW DO THE LOGISTICS WORK?

Here’s the solo juice:

  1. Get to the mountain: pick up your bib from Event HQ, Village Square. You will get two bibs: one for your bike and one for your run shirt. Attach ‘em both, hey?

    Bib pick up is Friday evening 5-8pm and Saturday morning 6.30am-7.45am.

  2. Rack your bike: there will be a Transition Area (TA) within the Village Square. Rack your bike up, along with your specific bike shoes (i.e. cleated) if needed.

  3. Check your kit over: make sure you have mandatory kit packed in your run / ride bag.

  4. Ready to start? Be at the start line by 7.45am, Village Square. Listen to race briefing. And the starter’s horn. That’s you. GO!

  5. You’ll run the prologue

  6. You’ll get back to the TA in Village Square, jump on your bike (shod your cleat shoes if that’s your thang), and zoom, zoom, off you go to plummet away from the summit. But first a little climb towards it. Cheeky, we know. But it’s to spread you out that little bit more. Give you some clear air for that rocket ship action you have ahead of you.

  7. Ride the light fantastic: gas it down Gang Gangs, ping it along Picnic Trail, wing along Wooly Butt, hang for a tick at the Howqua aid station, then keep it careful on Circuit Rd before revving it up down River Spur, onto the Delatite dash, and splashdown at Mirimbah TA (try not to actually splash…that is stay on your bike and out of the river if you can!). RACK YOUR BIKE. Your bike will be returned to the Buller Village event HQ Transition Area, for you to pick up at the summit.

  8. Transition to your trail run shoes, exit TA, cross the road (carefully) and up you go… Klingsporn Quad Killer, followed by North Ridge and THE SUMMIT!

  9. Run back down to the Village finishline. Holler, shout, whoop, do a jig, drink a beer. You FINISHED!
